Sorry to raise this thread from the dead once more, but I recently purchased a set of Mazzer mini replacement burrs (Part number 0182D) with the intention of performing this modification. It seems like the newer models of the Kitchenaid grinders don't have the same burr dimensions as the Mazzer. Perhaps I purchased the wrong burr set?
The KitchenAid was very difficult to tamp without channeling or clogging, and the crema from the KitchenAid grounds was a thick, acrid foam. It looked luscious but it tasted gross. The Mazzer grind extracted pretty evenly first try, and the crema was unobtrusive.

The rotating aluminum burr carrier must be drilled/tapped to fit the 3-bolt pattern on the Mazzer burr. 2.) Sep 27, 2017· The grinder seems to work better with all screws screwed in. Since the third hole isn't aligned with a hole in the body of the grinder, fix the screw with a nut on the other end. Then attach the burr with the adapter to the body of the grinder. I think the mazzer mini burrs use m5 machine screws.

Definitely dull compared to my mazzer burrs, but maybe this is by design. You guys seem to be dismissing it for the burr sharpness without consideration for the end result (uniformity/lack of dust).
